NAWOJ KANO HAILS AKCILS MASS COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT FOR PRODUCING QUALITY MEDIA PROFESSIONALS

The Kano State Chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has commended the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS) for its continued role in training competent media professionals for Kano State and beyond.
The Chairperson of NAWOJ Kano, Sayyida Bahijja Malam Kabara, gave the commendation while congratulating the management, lecturers and graduands of the Professional and Advanced Professional Diploma in Mass Communication on their graduation.

Sayyida Bahijja described the Mass Communication programme, established about 16 years ago, as an important contributor to journalism in Kano, with many graduates working in various media organisations, particularly radio stations.
She commended the Acting Provost, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, for his assurance of continued support, stressing that quality professional training is vital to producing responsible and credible journalists.
She also acknowledged veteran journalist Malam Bashir Muhammad Bashir (Bash M. Bash) for addressing journalism’s role in tackling drug addiction and thuggery, and Dr. Wasila Ladan, National Secretary of NAWOJ, for encouraging female graduands to remain committed to journalism and society.

The NAWOJ Kano Chairperson appreciated Dr. Bala Muhammad for encouraging further education and professional development, and commended the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, for promoting honesty, credibility, verification and ethics, as well as pledging transportation support to the College when needed.
She applauded the graduands for producing The AKCILS Pen, describing it as evidence of their practical training, and recognised the College’s media partners and organisations supporting students through SIWES.
Sayyida Bahijja congratulated the award recipients, including Alhaji Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, Malam Muhammad Musa Muhammad Inya, Malam Aminu Muhammad Kabara and Dr. Hamisu Sadi Ali, among others, while appreciating media organisations supporting the students’ professional development.

She also commended the College Registrar, Hajiya Raliya Aliyu Abubakar, for appreciating the graduands, guests and stakeholders who supported the ceremony.
The NAWOJ Kano Chairperson urged the graduates to reject fake news, propaganda and unverified information, and uphold truth, accuracy, fairness and public interest in their practice.

She assured the College and its Mass Communication Department that NAWOJ Kano would continue to contribute its quota whenever the need arises, particularly in journalism education, practical training and professional development.
